I am Dr. Laxman Malkunje, but more than my name I would like to get referred as oral and maxillofacial surgeon. I grew up in Osmanabad(Dharashiv), Maharashtra, completed my schooling & college there. From there I attended my college of dentistry at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. After that I did my post-graduation from KGMC kings George medical university Lucknow Uttar Pradesh, got trained as oral and maxillofacial surgeon for 3 years. My time is divided between either operating, consulting to the clinics, on call or delivering lectures in the courses I conduct and as well as in IDA conferences. Operatively my work ranges from complex oral surgical procedures, tmj surgeries, salivary gland surgery, facial trauma and implantology. I participate in oncology and trained in microvascular surgery. Being an enthusiastic person towards the scope of basal implantology I would like to achieve a milestone in basal implantology to serve edentulous patients, so they can smile & maintain their health with good chewing capacity. Would like to serve needy people who are having oral and maxillofacial pathologies & problems. Outside dentistry & surgery I am a member of cricket association in Pune, playing cricket is a best hobby of mine. Being a foody by heart, I like to taste different variety of food wherever I go and I get a chance. Travelling is the activity I enjoy the most along with good music & off course with my family beside me, who supports me through every aspect of my life. I am lucky enough to work with a large multidisciplinary team including all the doctors (medical and dental) and nursing staff as well. I can’t see myself leaving the environment of the hospital. Have a dream of establishing a maxillofacial trauma care center to serve the community.
